Dear MBAIV,
I am so sorry to have been so uncommunicative; I have really been submerged in my work here at Wuhan University in central China where I have been teaching research methods and organizational behavior to classes of MBAs, other graduate students and young teachers. There is so much to tell about this experience! The Wuhan University campus is reputed to be the most beautiful in China, especially during the season of the cherry blossoms, although these trees planted by the Japanese recall the suffering of the occupation during which the university served as a hospital for
Japanese soldiers. (You can visit the university website at http://www.whu.edu.cn/en/index.html to see some photos.)My contract extends through mid July when I will travel back to Canada via Japan and possibly Hawaii where the Academy of Management will hold its annual meetings this year. I have not made plans to attend the MBA IV reunion as I am so far away!
I have retired (or cashed out) from my regular position at Laval, and I am now loosely affiliated as "associated professor", a status which allows me complete freedom of action while maintaining access to some key resources such as the library and subscribed electronic databases. I have left my property in Quebec City in the care of a specialized company and the arrangement seems to be working out reasonably well, although now I am really looking forward to getting back to my own working environment. In the future I will seek other opportunities such as the one I am enjoying now, and work to develop my own entrepreneurial enterprises.
I think often of MBA IV - despite my lack of communication...
More later,
Ann
PS: I have attached a picture taken on the campus of Xiamen University last February.
